Students Observe Yom Hashoah

On Thursday, students across all divisions observed and remembered Yom Hashoah. In the Elementary Division, students said prayers, read poems and lit candles which each represented victims of the Holocaust. Each year the Middle School engages in an intense learning project to better understand the Holocaust and honor its victims. This year's study was entitled "Fighting Darkness with Light: Spiritual Resistance During the Holocaust." Through this project, students came to understand how Jews used their faith to sustain them during some of the darkest years in the history of the Jewish people. High School students lit memorial candles at the memorial corner. They watched testimonials from Yad Va'Shem and throughout the day they discussed the importance of memory in Jewish tradition and heroism in the Holocaust. We hope that our students' learning serves to elevate the neshamot of those who perished in the Holocaust and honor all of the victims of Nazi atrocities. Click here for more photos.
