  • Early Childhood Educator Judaic Studies/General Studies Lead Teachers & Assistants

    Hebrew Academy of Miami is seeking dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educators who are committed to providing young children with important foundations while instilling a strong Jewish identity in a warm and nurturing environment.

    The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The educator must have knowledge and experience in early childhood education, Judaic studies, and be able to work collaboratively as a team member.


    Responsibilities:

    • Provide supervision, safety, and well-being for the children.
    • Use developmentally appropriate teaching to recognize and respond to each child's needs.
    • Plan, prepare, and implement stimulating and age-appropriate activities.
    • Maintain open communication with the Administrator and co-workers.
    • Ensure compliance with DCF standards.
    • Organize space, equipment, and materials in the classroom according to STEAM philosophy.
    • Complete child transition and orientation of the classroom with parents.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with parents/caregivers.
    • Encourage parent participation in the classroom environment.
    • Plan periodic parent conferences to discuss children's progress and interests.
    • Report all accidents, injuries, and illnesses to the nurse/administrator and record such incidents in the observation log.
    • Assure a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
    • Assist with functioning and monitoring of nutrition and food service.
    • Attend to children's physical needs for toileting, diapering, eating, and sleeping.
    • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
    • Avoid the use of cell phones.
    • Attend regular staff meetings.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the school's children, their parents, and staff.
    • Maintain a positive working relationship with all staff members.
    • Act as a role model of appropriate behavior.
    • Be energetic, resilient and maintain a sense of humor.
    • Maintain timely and accurate files, including student observations and other documentations.
    • Ability to present units in Hebrew.
    • Knowledgeable of Judaic Studies, Parashiot Hashavua, and Chagim.
    • Fluency in Hebrew and experience teaching Early Childhood Judaic Studies/Hebrew Language.
    • Excellent classroom management, differentiated instruction skills, and organization skills.
    • Be a team player and proficient with instructional technology.
    • Flexibility and ability to work within a demanding environment.
    • Experience teaching Judaic Studies in an orthodox environment.
    • Experience teaching in an early childhood classroom.

    Requirements:

    • Early child development knowledge and experience.
    • Knowledge in Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
    • Knowledge of State Program Requirements for Early Childhood Programs.
    • Ability to use the computer to input developmental data.
    • Ability to use a smart board, iPads, and any other technological device.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child.

    Physical and Emotional Requirements:

    • Often required and able to stand, sit on the floor, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl.

  • Elementary Support Teacher (Academic Enhancement Program)

    The Elementary Support Teacher within the Academic Enhancement Program (AEP) at Hebrew Academy of Miami Beach is responsible for providing specialized academic support to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. The primary focus of this role is to offer both push-in and pull-out support to meet the diverse needs of students within the AEP framework.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Individualized Instruction: Develop and implement individualized educational plans tailored to the specific needs of each student within the AEP program. 
    • Push-In Support: Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide in-class support for students with diverse learning needs. Offer differentiated instruction and accommodations to ensure that students can access the curriculum effectively.
    • Pull-Out Support: Conduct small group instructional sessions outside the regular classroom environment as needed. Utilize evidence-based interventions and instructional techniques to address academic challenges and promote skill development.
    • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Administer assessments to evaluate students' academic abilities, identify areas of strength and weakness, and track progress over time. Use assessment data to adjust  intervention strategies accordingly.
    • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication channels with classroom teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment of support strategies and continuity of instruction. Participate in team meetings and parent conferences as necessary. Share progress reports with parents throughout the school year.
    • Differentiated Instruction: Implement a variety of instructional approaches, materials, and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Modify curriculum content and  assessment techniques to meet the individual needs of students with varying levels of academic readiness and skill mastery.
    • Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to academic growth and social-emotional development. Establish clear expectations for behavior and implement effective behavior management strategies as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
    • Valid teaching certification in Special Education or Elementary Education.
    • Prior experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a resource room or inclusion setting
