Hebrew Academy marked the third anniversary of October 7th through tefilah, Torah learning, and achdut, bringing students together to honor the lives lost and strengthen their connection to Israel and Am Yisrael.

Our seniors led students in Grades 4–12 in a “Remembering and Growing” assembly, creating an opportunity for reflection and learning. Upper School students also heard directly from IDF soldiers and learned about Israel and antisemitism. Meanwhile, students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 explored what it means to be a hero and created thank-you cards for Hatzalah South Florida and other community heroes.

Hebrew Academy students also represented the school at the City of Miami Beach’s “We Stand with Israel” ceremony at the Miami Beach Fire Department. Kindergarten students sang the national anthem and Hatikvah, while Shaina Verbitsky (Grade 11) shared her reflections and Yosef Kopel (Grade 12) contributed through song and tefilah.

Through these meaningful experiences, our students honored those whose lives were lost on October 7th, recognized the courage of those who continue to protect and serve, and reaffirmed their connection to Israel and Am Yisrael.
