This week, 6th and 7th graders jumped into a hands-on challenge during their BYTES lesson in the STEAM Lab.

Working without step-by-step instructions, students were tasked with building a Wacky Wire game using only the materials provided. To make it work, they had to collaborate, test ideas, and problem-solve together to create a circuit that would buzz when the wire loop touched the track.

Once they mastered the first build, students took on a second challenge: adding an LED light to the circuit. This pushed them to rethink their designs and gain a deeper understanding of how circuits function.

There was plenty of trial and error along the way—testing, adjusting, and trying again. When the games finally worked, the excitement in the room said it all.
