What a powerful night! Over 1,000 members of our community came together Wednesday evening to commemorate and celebrate Israel. We began with a heartfelt Yom Hazikaron ceremony, where students honored Israel’s fallen heroes. Jewish music star Shulem Lemmer moved the crowd with El Male Rachamim and his original song October Rain. As we transitioned into Yom Ha’Atzmaut, the mood shifted from sorrow to celebration. Our Executive Director, Rachel Weinberger, lit a torch in memory of her heroic cousins. Two heroic IDF soldiers—Staff Sergeants Osher Pardo and Ilai Aviv—lit a torch in honor of Israeli soldiers and security forces. Both showed extraordinary bravery on October 7, saving lives in the face of unimaginable danger. We were honored to welcome Michal Cohen, the Consul of Israel in Miami, who lit a torch in recognition of Tikkun Olam and the promotion of brotherhood and peace. The evening continued with dancing and celebration in our gymnasium as Shulem Lemmer continued his amazing performance. We are deeply proud and grateful. Am Yisrael Chai!
