Channel 7 reporter Rosh Lowe visited the High School journalism class and Warrior Word staff to speak about news reporting and writing last Monday afternoon. The WSVN Fox affiliate reporter explained important factors to consider when writing a news article, including empathy, meaning, and impact of a story.
Lowe told the class that they have to tell a story and not just state the facts, since a robot can do that. Lowe spoke about the importance of connecting with an audience and reporting topics that interest and relate to the audience, in this case the student body. He emphasized the importance of the role of reporters to give the students a voice and the power that comes along with that.
Lowe provided the students with useful techniques and guidance to improve not only the reporting with the Warrior Word but their reporting in the future and after High School.
