Winter Break is here and here we are closing our first semester of school. We’ve been having the greatest time and we are looking forward to what next semester will bring. Our Chanukah Festival of Lights was a great success. We celebrated Chanukah in a grandiose way. We sang, danced, baked and worked on so many different projects. Last Saturday night, we enjoyed Rabbi G’s Havdalah in Pajamas workshop. We had over 50 children and parents reciting Havdalah and creating beautiful candles to say Havdalah with at home. We had the best time! And lastly, we are looking forward to celebrating Tu B’Shevat, Purim, Pesach, Yom Ha’Atzmaut and Shavuot when we get back from our break.
This year for break, I will be in Israel celebrating the glory of our land. I will also be seeing my son, Gabriel Binyamin, who in just a week will be completing his military service as a Lone Soldier. I cannot explain the pride and joy I feel in seeing him accomplishing his childhood dream of being a Chayal in Eretz Israel. It has been two years since he (and all of us) embarked on this journey. During this time, he was at the forefront of battle defending our beloved land. For two (sleepless) years, I prayed every day for his and all our chayalim’s safety. Through it all, I had my Hebrew Academy family cheering him up and closely monitoring his well-being. Our little warriors prayed for him and his fellow soldiers safety at our morning Mifkad. We collected winter clothing to send to our Chayalim in the north, and we are looking forward to a sensational Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebration, as Israel turns 70 years old.
Have an amazing and safe winter break!
