I am delighted to welcome you all to the 2018-2019 school year, and I am even more delighted to inform you that as I write this message, we currently have 613 students enrolled in school. This meaningful number sets our enrollment higher than it has been in well over 12 years. This record breaking enrollment number is accompanied by another record breaking number of 124 new students. It is truly a wonderful thing to see so many new faces on campus.
The new school year is off to a great start with incredible things happening all over campus every day. Our administrative and teaching teams have worked hard on initiatives to boost our academic rigor and create cross-curricular programs, utilizing blended and project based learning, with a lens on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) in both Judaic and general studies. What this boils down to is an exciting and engaging school environment that is impactful from infancy through grade 12. Which bring us to a theme we are focusing on as a school community this year:
P.I.E. - Present, Impactful, Engaged
Present - Put down your technology, make eye contact, really listen and hear others, reflect, let the person you are with know they matter.
Impactful - Make a difference, welcome a new classmate or parent to the community, take a small project and make it significant, pass kindness on.
Engaged - Get involved, join PTSA, come to Warrior athletic competitions, participate in our special events, volunteer, use positive word of mouth.
We are asking all personnel, parents, and students to enjoy some P.I.E. this year. You will soon be invited to parent workshops related to this theme, and you are likely to hear about self-awareness and social-emotional learning programs related to P.I.E. that will take place in our classrooms throughout the year. We hope you will join us and take a big bite from your own slice of P.I.E.
In the meantime, I thank you for entrusting Hebrew Academy with your child's education.
