8th Grade Explores Washington, DC: News & Updates

Thursday, May 3 (Day 4): The 8th Grade spent their last day in Washington, DC visiting Ford's Theater, the location where President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865. Later in the afternoon they headed to the Spy Museum and participated in an "Operation Spy" workshop. They became secret agents and had to work in teams to figure out who stole a nuclear weapon. After an amazing four days the group headed to the airport to fly home!

  • 8th Grade's Last Day in Washington, DC

Tuesday, May 1 & Wednesday, May 2, 2018 (Days 2 & 3): Our 8th Grade Warriors have been busy visiting the Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean War Memorials. They also received First Amendment education at the Newseum and participated in a workshop on identifying fake news. On Wednesday, they started their day with a Capital Visit Tour lead by a staff member of Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen from Florida. After, they toured the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and Museum of American History. They also relaxed and played football and red rover on the lawn of the National Mall. They even enjoyed a Nationals baseball game!

  • 8th Grades Second & Third Day in Washington, DC

Monday, April 30, 2018 (Day 1): The 8th graders have landed in Washington, DC! It was already a full day of site seeing. They visited Arlington National Cemetery, witnessed the Changing of the Guard, visited the Kennedy gravesite, and saw the Space Shuttle Discovery up close. Students experienced the United States Holocaust Museum, visited the FDR, Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr., and Lincoln memorials. They stopped by the White House and snapped a photo with Albert Einstein at the Academy of Natural Sciences.
