Warrior Athletics Update

Warrior Parents, Staff, and Fans,

I hope this message finds you safe and well in these unfortunate times. I wanted to give everyone an update from the Athletic Department in regards to both PE and upcoming Winter Sports. We have been working very hard to enhance our program as well as move around schedules to accommodate a shortened Winter Sports season in the near future.

Coach Stephen, Coach Mallory, and I worked tirelessly this summer to create a safe PE environment day in and day out for all students in Grades K-8. We have marked spots across our gymnasium that are 10 feet apart, which allow us to have daily exercises in a safe and enjoyable manner. We also ramped up our schedule to allow all students in grades K-8 to have PE a minimum of four days a week and some will have five, as we are on a rotational basis for Fridays. We are almost three months in and I am proud to say our kids are staying very active and most importantly safe and well.

Athletics have been a bit of a challenge as there are so many factors that play into hosting schools on our campus and/or traveling to other schools to play. We, unfortunately, had to opt-out of our Fall Sports and we are currently monitoring the COVID numbers daily with the hope to have a shortened Winter Season. With the cases again rising in South Florida, we have decided to postpone all games for Basketball and Soccer to January. We are hoping to start practices in December, but that will ultimately depend on where we are at with the virus. I am currently moving around all winter schedules to hopefully get as many games as possible in January.

Although this has been a very different and challenging start to the year, I want to assure you that my staff and I are doing everything in our power to make the absolute best of the situation. Seeing the smiles on over 600 kids daily is the ultimate reward as we get closer and closer to the new normal. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and I will provide another update as new information comes my way. Thank you for your teamwork and continued commitment to Warrior Athletics!

Go Warriors!
