Second Graders Learn About Sofer Stam with Rabbi Benzaquen

Second graders have been rehearsing beautifully for their Chumash presentation and are excited to perform for their families next week on Thursday, January 13. As they will receive their Chumashim, they had the honor to have Rabbi Benzaquen in class on Thursday to educate the children on what is a ‘Sofer Stam.’ He also showed them how to write the letters of the Alef-Bet with special ink on a ‘Klaf’ paper, which is made out of a real animal skin. He showed the students a real mezuzah paper and Tefillin ‘klaf.' The children enjoyed seeing Rabbi Benzaquen write the letters so precisely with such dedication and concentration.
