High School Students Attend AIPAC Policy Conference in Washington, DC
On March 24, seven students from the Hebrew Academy High School traveled to Washington DC to attend AIPAC's annual Policy Conference. For three days, they attended sessions rich with information about the benefits of the US-Israel relationship, the current political situations in both nations, and the threats currently facing Israel. Speakers included Vice-President Mike Pence, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Ambassador Ron Dermer and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. On Tuesday, our delegates traveled to Capitol Hill and lobbied Congresswomen Donna Shalala (FL-27) and Debbie Murcasel-Powell (FL-26) on issues ranging from securing defense funding for Israel to legislation combating the BDS movement. They returned home exhausted, but proud, active participants of in the American Democratic system and staunch defenders of Israel.
