High School Science Department Hosts First Ever Invention Convention

Tuesday, April 2, marked the introduction of the High School Science Department’s First Annual Invention Convention. The event was kicked off with a Trebuchet Contest showcasing the Junior's Honors Physics class related to the design, build, and calibration of a launching device capable of hitting a movable target. The Junior Nutrition Class displayed their research projects on popular diets, including depictions of home cooked meals served to their families. Freshman Biology, Sophomore Chemistry, Junior Anatomy and Physiology, and Senior AP Biology classes carried out  individual science research experiments on topics ranging from anatomical modeling, sense perception, crystal formation, water purification, and pH indication. The event, open to parents, gave students the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in ways other than what they can do in a traditional classroom setting.  The Invention Convention will be an annual event for the science department.
