Hebrew Academy Announces New Educational Partnership with CIJE for the 2018-2019 School Year

This year, the Hebrew Academy is excited to further elevate their educational experience for Elementary School students by joining the Center for Initiatives for Jewish Education or CIJE. Established in 2008, CIJE strengthens and enriches education with over 40,000 students in 17 US states in 220 Jewish Schools.

“CIJE enhances educational excellence for Jewish Day Schools across the country,” said Dean of Academic and Innovation, Rabbi Avi Bossewitch. “Partnering with CIJE and co-developing new programs is a unique opportunity for us to enrich our school-wide STEAM education which will strengthen us further as a flagship 21st Century School.”

These programs prepare students to have the experiences and acquire the skills that they will need to thrive in the future. Teachers are supported with professional development and a virtual meeting place to share their lessons and ideas. The school will be incorporating CIJE in these specific areas in the Elementary School:

ITaLAm- a blended learning platform based on the TaL AM program of Hebrew immersion for our Grade 1 and 2 students.

Jewish Interactive- this includes JiTap, Ji Calendar and Ji Studio. These Judaic digital interactive tools use games and rich Jewish resources to enhance our Judaic Studies program.

STEAM- lessons geared to incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math will be shared with our General Studies teachers.

“As a principal who had great experiences with many aspects of CIJE in New York schools, I am thrilled to bring together the Hebrew Academy of Miami and CIJE. Our new partnership will enhance growing STEAM opportunities for our students,” said Elementary School Principal, Debbie Hamburg.
