Grade 6 Explores Microorganisms

6th graders used microscopes for the first time to look at microorganisms. They studied protists, a kingdom of life that is often found in pond water. It was amazing to see their reactions when they noticed the small features of the little creatures that resembled plants and animals. They used their protist identification worksheet to locate different types of protists and their parts that allow them to move such as flagella (whip-like tails), cillia (tiny hairs) and pseudopods (false feet).
