Fostering and Sustaining Educational Excellence Across Five Pillars by Rabbi Avi Bossewitch

Rabbi Avi Bossewitch, Dean of Academics and Innovation

Our Academic program consists of five pillars consisting of: 1 – the Light of Torah and Israel; 2 – Character and Middot; 3- Blended and Personalized Learning; 4 – Innovators, Leaders, and Entrepreneurs; 5 – STEAM. These five domains serve as the focal areas of school-wide academic advancement. As you can see from the following graphic, over the past few years, we have accomplished our goal of both strengthening existing programs and introducing new ones in every domain in every division.

What you may not be aware of is the background work required to accomplish these goals. Fostering and sustaining educational excellence across our school can only be accomplished with an extraordinary faculty and administration who are continually learning and growing. This includes workshops, coursework, conferences and a myriad of other learning opportunities to improve their craft. The following graphic depicts some of the training and conferences that our team participate in to lead this work.

This past summer close to 30 members of our team attended 14 different conferences highlighting best practice and the latest science in each area.  (see the photo gallery). Some of the topics were Holocaust education, Character education, STEAM education, Innovative education, and Personalized and Blended learning.

Earlier this year close to a dozen faculty members attended a two-day training in blended and personalized training facilitated by Better Lesson as part of our long term strategic plan. Through the generosity of the Avichai Foundation and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s JBlend Miami program, every participant will now receive 1:1 coaching throughout the year at no cost to our school.

While we always prefer our faculty on campus during the school day with your children, at times it is unavoidable. Rest assured that we preserve our steadfast commitment to your child’s learning while his or her instructor is away.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children!

Ktiva Vchatima Tova!
