Early Childhood Learns About Space

This week was a very exciting week for Nursery 3! The children expanded their understanding of our world by learning all about space. They learned about the nine planets and how they orbit around the sun, which is the largest star in our solar system. They also learned about the planet we live on, planet Earth, and how it is the only planet we know of with living organisms. As part of our space lesson, the kids learned about how astronauts travel to space on rockets or spacecrafts, such as the recent Space X! The children enjoyed making their own bulletin board of planets, as well as their own rockets. In another lesson, the children learned all about primary and secondary colors and had the opportunity to conduct color experiments at home. One of the experiments we conducted with the children was a color foaming experiment using baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring. The kids enjoyed watching how the colors mixed with baking soda and foamed up as they were activated by vinegar. On Dinosaur Day, one of our students, Alexander Wolf, became the teacher for the day and taught his friends all about the dinosaurs he has at home. The students were excited to create their own dinosaur digs at home and shovel through them to find the fossils. We look forward to more exciting learning opportunities ahead!
