This week in ECE we have been extremely busy at work! Chanukah is just around the corner and aside from learning about Chanukah we are also preparing and rehearsing for the Chanukah "Festival of Lights" show on December 3. While we explored the different centers in and out of our classrooms, we have learned about the story of Chanukah and how the small army of the Maccabees defeated the mighty army of king Antiochus. In our makerspace, we studied ladders as we learned about Yaacov’s dream. Our students recreated Josef Albers’s painting “Interaction of Colors” as homage to Yaacov’s ladder. They also used Legos to create ladders. In addition, we used linguini pasta and mini marshmallows to make a dreidel. Our students in Pre-K had a great time. Our N2s, N3s and Pre-Ks students continued designing their Chanukiot together with many other Chanukah inspired activities where they used many STEAM related concepts.
