8th Graders Create Solar Energy Kits

As a part of the Renewable Energy to Renew Lives Project that 8th grade is working on, this week they participated in the construction of a household solar system. We have studied that electricity is the movement of electrons from one atom to another and the amount of electricity available in a system creates electrical force. Using a portable and easy to set up solar system, we set up a solar energy kit that has 4 Solar panel, a Control Box, a 12 Volt Rechargeable Battery and a Power Inverter that delivers 100 watts of renewable energy. The students came up to witness the system at work and had the opportunity to plug in their USB ports to charge their smartphones and tablets as well as turn on LED lights.
