Mrs. Debra Hamburg
Bio
Mrs. Debbie Hamburg has been involved in Jewish Day School education as a teacher, a specialist in curriculum, instruction and staff development, an Assistant Principal and now is proud to be the Principal at the Hebrew Academy of Miami Beach (RASG). Mrs. Hamburg has done her graduate work at Hofstra, Bar Ilan and Harvard University. Debbie and her husband Steve are the proud parents of 3 children (HANC graduates) and 5 outstanding grandchildren. They have relocated to the Surfside area and are members of the Young Israel Congregation of Bal Harbour.
Ms. Vivian Armoza
Ms. Mazal Azoulay
Bio
Morah Mazal Azoulay is an elementary Hebrew language teacher. She has a Masters Degree in Education and a BA in Hebrew Literature. She is a dedicated educator, fluent in written and spoken Hebrew, with extensive experience delivering enthusiastic instruction of the Hebrew language, Judaic studies, and the Montessori English philosophy. Her background includes ten years of proven success in instructing under a variety of different curriculum structures. Mrs. Azoulay is deeply committed to improving children’s lives and continuously strives to lead by example by seeking out new ways to link Hebrew learning with fun activities and equip children with the tools, resources, and knowledge to exceed individual goals. Mrs. Azoulay is happily married and is the mother of two children.
Mrs. Eugenie Bensimon
Bio
Mrs. Eugenie Bensimon is our third grade general studies teacher. She is married and has three adult children. She was born and raised in New York where she attended Brooklyn College. After moving to Florida she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and she has a K-6 professional teaching certificate. She is currently studying educational engineering through a program offered at Tufts University. She is inspired to teach a new generation of innovators.
Mrs. Rachel Benzaquen
Bio
Mrs. Rachel Benzaquen was born in Israel and studied at Bar Ilan University where she obtained a teachers license. She has a Masters in Education for the Diaspora from Hebrew University of Yerushalayim. Mrs. Benzaquen is married and has five children and several grandchildren. She began teaching Ivrit and Judaic Studies at the Hebrew Academy in 1990 for grades 2-12 and is presently the 2nd grade Judaic Studies teacher. Mrs. Benzaquen is honored to be able to share her passion for teaching with her students.
Mrs. Chaya Sara Cohn
Bio
Mrs. Chaya Cohn is our the first grade general studies teacher. She has been an educator for over thirty years and is currently reliving elementary school through the eyes of her grandchildren. Mrs. Cohn attended Tulane University and Touro College and has taught Nursery through second grade in New York, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Savannah, and Boston. While in Boston, she was involved with The Early Childhood Institute at Hebrew College and co-authored a book about integrated early childhood Judaic curriculum. She is very curious and enjoys learning about science, history, guided reading and social thinking.
Rabbi Dovid Cohn
Bio
Rabbi Dovid Cohn is the first grade Judaic Studies teacher. He has taught in different parts of the United States. Rabbi Cohn attended Dickinson College and Touro College and received a Masters in Elementary Education from Wheelock Teachers College. Besides obtaining semicha from Yeshiva Sh”or Yoshuv in Far Rockaway, New York, his Rosh Hayeshiva, Rabbi Shlomo Freifeld guided him in his philosophy in education. Throughout Rabbi Cohn’s years in education, he attended various conferences and workshops to further his skills and understanding.
Ms. Kathleen Donnelly
Mrs. Tammy Goldring
Bio
Mrs. Tammy Goldring is an Educational Specialist who has been working in the Hebrew Academy for almost 11 years. She began as a third grade teacher, worked as the Writing Specialist for grades 3-5, and then became the 2nd grade general studies teacher for the past 6 years. She is passionate about giving students a comfortable environment to work in and helping them reach their full potential.
Mrs. Elena Holand
Bio
Mrs. Elena Holand is a teaching assistant in the third grade Judaic Studies room. She was born in Trinidad, and raised in Caracas Venezuela. She graduated from University of San Fernando in Caracas with a teaching degree and then moved to Israel and received a Hebrew teaching degree from the Beit Hamidrash for Teachers in Beer Sheva. She has worked at the Hebrew Academy for the last 20 years. She is the proud mother of children who also attended Hebrew Academy.
Mrs. Liat Jamil
Bio
Mrs. Liat Jamil has been our grade 2 teaching assistant for four years. She was born in Israel and later graduated from FIT in Fashion Design. Liat has three children who attend Hebrew Academy and she has also been part of the parent body for the last 15 years.
Mrs. Beth Landesman
Bio
Mrs. Beth Landesman is an alumna of the Hebrew Academy. She married her high school sweetheart, and her two daughters are currently third generation students at the Hebrew Academy. Beth graduated from Stern College with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Exceptional Student Education, from Barry University, with an endorsement in Autism. Beth is the media center specialist as well as part of the AEP support team.
Mrs. Abigail Nagler
Bio
Mrs. Abigail Nagler is a proud member of the 5th Grade team as the general studies teacher. Abigail joined the Hebrew Academy community in 2012. Prior to migrating to Miami Beach, Abigail lived in New York City where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Barnard College and a Master's of Education in School Counseling from Hunter College. When Abigail is not in front of her classroom's SMART Board, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, relaxing along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, exercising, and watching sports.
Mrs. Caroline Nahon
Bio
Mrs. Caroline Nahon is the first grade teacher's aide for general studies. This is her fourth year in the first grade and she loves it. Mrs. Nahon has four children who attend the school. Morah Caroline has prior teaching experience at Chabad and was a home school teacher as well. She is a graduate of Yeshiva University’s Stern college for Women with a double major in English and Communications.
Mrs. Judy Neufeld
Bio
Mrs. Judy Neufeld is a graduate of the Hebrew Academy and Touro College. Teaching at the Hebrew Academy for the past 22 years for her is like coming home, as she can remember when the building was built and all the many changes that have transpired over the years. Teaching children is her passion. Mrs. Neufeld loves teaching Chumash to 4th grade students during the year, and looks forward to the summers as wel, as the Director of the Hebrew Academy Summer Camp program. Mrs. Neufeld has 4 children and 6 grandchildren. She enjoys teaching at the Hebrew Academy and dedicates her days to educating her students in a nurturing and loving atmosphere and environment.
Mrs. Yael Rabhan

Ms. Yael Rabhan is a second grade assistant. She is a graduate of the Hebrew Academy and is very excited to be working with our amazing students this year.
Mrs. Reena Rabovsky
Bio
Mrs. Reena Rabovsky received her M.S.Ed. in School Psychology from Queens College in New York. As a school psychologist, she is delighted to facilitate students' academic, social, and emotional growth. She especially enjoys collaborating with students, parents, community members, and school staff to create a positive learning environment. Reena also loves spending time with her husband and three children.
Mrs. Beverly Rose
Bio
Morah Beverly Rose graduated from New York University, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and Nazareth College of Rochester. She has an MS in Reading, an MA in Jewish Education, and a BS in Education and Hebrew Language and Literature. She has lived in Florida for 17 years. Her husband is a rabbi, and they have one daughter, two sons, one son-in-law, one soon to be daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter and grandson. Beverly has taught for many years, and she continues to love teaching students of all ages.
Mrs. Perla Salver
Bio
Mrs. Perla Salver is the fourth grade general studies teacher and has been a faculty member since 2014. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Mrs. Salver and her family moved to Boca Raton in 1999. She later attended Shaalvim for Women in Jerusalem and continued her studies at Stern College for Women where she earned a Bachelors in Elementary Education. Perla is married to Seth Salver, a graduate of the Hebrew Academy Class of 2006, and have a beautiful daughter, Anna Rebeca. Mrs. Salver loves teaching at the Hebrew Academy and working with her students; one of the greatest parts of her job is facilitating her student’s growth each and every day.
Mrs. Shoshana Scharf
Bio
Morah Shoshana Scharf has been teaching at the Hebrew Academy for the last eight years and has been in education for 14 years. Currently, she teaches our Kindergarteners how to read and speak Hebrew, as well as explore a love for Israel. Shoshi moved to the United States from Israel, after she finished her service in the army for two years; it was a pleasure serving her country. Shoshi studied in Seminar Morot and Gananot in Nahalal, Israel. She recently completed a course in Chalav u Dvash, that shows how to teach hebrew to young children. She loves working with her students and enjoys seeing how much knowledge they gain throughout her class. Her goal is to provide her students with skills to be successful for years to come.
Mrs. Batsheva Schochet
Bio
Morah Batsheva Schochet teaches third grade Judaic Studies. She received her teaching license from the Israeli Government Department of Education. She has advanced herself with courses from Torah Umseroah, CAJE, Yached and Hishtalmayot in Israel. Her passion is to teach and infuse in her students a love of Hashem, a love or our Torah and a love of our holy land Eretz Israel.
Ms. Nicole Segall
Bio
Morah Nicole Segall is a Kindergarten general studies teacher. This is her fourth year at Hebrew Academy. She previously lived in New York City where she was a Kindergarten and Nursery teacher at Rodeph Sholom School. She also has taught Judaic Studies and Hebrew to Second and Fourth graders at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. She graduated from Indiana University where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism and English as a second concentration and later received a dual Masters in both Second Grade and Special Education at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education.
Mrs. Elana Szafranski

Mrs. Elana Szafranski has been an assistant teacher at Hebrew Academy for the past four years. She has three children who have attended Hebrew Academy for the past ten years. She attended Yeshiva University Stern College Sy Syms School of Business in New York. Elana moved to Miami over 14 years ago from New York.
Mrs. Jessica Waisfeld

Morah Jessica Kaplan Waisfeld is an Ivrit Teacher for grades 3-5 in our Elementary School. Jessica is originally from Argentina. She is a certified Hebrew teacher from CAJE and studied in the Machon Greenberg le Morim in Jerusalem, Israel. Mrs. Waisfeld has been teaching Hebrew for 30 years in Elementary schools in Argentina and in Canada and this is her fourth year teaching at Hebrew Academy. She also worked as a psychologist in her hometown of Cordoba, Argentina. Jessica loves her two children Eitan and Julia and she enjoys watching them play soccer and take gymnastics lessons.
Rabbi Avi Weberman
Bio
Rabbi Avi Weberman was born and raised in Miami Beach. He is a graduate of Hebrew Academy and spent two years studying in Israel before making his way to Yeshiva Sh'or Yoshuv where he received his S'micha and first began to build his love of teaching. Rabbi Weberman began his teaching career at HAFTR and moved on to Yeshiva of South Shore. There he taught Judaic studies to special education students and Math and English to 4th and 5th grade. While teaching at Yeshiva of South Shore, he received a Masters of Special Education. The opportunity for a homecoming was one he could not pass up, and he is excited to rejoin the Hebrew Academy family as the fifth grade Judaic Studies teacher.
Mrs. Bat Chen Weil
Bio
Mrs. Bat Chen Weil is the first grade Ivrit teacher. She was born in Israel, grew up in Yerushalim, and studied Hebrew Literature and Informal Education in Efrata College. She has participated in various educational projects both in Israel and the United States. Together with her husband (who is a teacher in our high school) and her daughter Ruth they joined Hebrew Academy as Shlichim from the World Zionist Organization.
Mrs. Elisa Wolfson
Bio
Morah Elisa (Lisi) Wolfson has been a Limudei Kodesh teacher in the Kindergarten at Hebrew Academy for 13 years. She is a proud graduate of the Hebrew Academy, spent a year and a half at Midreshet Moriah in Jerusalem, received her undergraduate degree from Yeshiva University Stern College for Women and a Masters in Education from Adelphi University. She has been teaching for 19 years and loves it. She is the proud mommy of four daughters that attend Hebrew Academy. Her goal is to instill in her students a love for HaKadosh Baruch Hu and learning that will last a lifetime.
